BEA will conduct a webinar on Sept. 10 for those required to fill out the BE-140, a benchmark survey that collects information on insurance transactions between U.S. insurance companies and foreign persons.
The one-hour webinar will start at 1 p.m. EDT and detail reporting requirements for the survey, which is due to the Bureau of Economic Analysis by Sept. 30. The survey covers transactions that took place in the 2018 calendar year. The session also will outline changes since the survey was previously conducted in 2014. Please register as soon as you can to participate.
Information from the surveys is used to produce official economic statistics, including U.S. gross domestic product and U.S. international transactions. These data help users analyze the impact of international trade on the U.S. economy and on foreign economies, inform trade promotion efforts, and provide U.S. businesses information about market opportunities.
BE-140 surveys must be filed even by those who weren’t contacted by BEA. Reporting of all covered insurance transactions is required regardless of the dollar amount. Information provided on the survey is kept confidential by law and can only be used for statistical purposes. Failure to file can result in civil and criminal penalties.
Completed BE-140 surveys can be filed electronically at www.bea.gov/efile, by fax to (301) 278-9506, or by overnight delivery.
