The National Income and Product Accounts (Table 6.2D) show employee compensation for about 65 private industries, and for the major categories of federal and state and local government.  This table is available as part of the annual revision (for example, August 2011).  BEA’s regional economic accounts show employee compensation in the table CA05N: “Personal income by major source and earnings by industry” for the same NIPA industries by state and metropolitan area.  More detailed employee compensation data is available from the Benchmark Input-Output table for years ending in ‘2’ and ‘7’.  However, these data are based primarily on Census measures of compensation, and are not entirely consistent with measures based on BLS data, such as the NIPA and regional accounts data mentioned above.  Several sources of employee compensation data are available from BLS.  Employment, hours and earnings from the Current Employment Survey are available at http://www.bls.gov/ces/home.htm.  The Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) program publishes a quarterly count of employment and wages reported by employers covering 98 percent of U.S. jobs, available at the county, MSA, state and national levels by industry.  This is available at http://www.bls.gov/cew/home.htm.  The Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) program produces employment and wage estimates for over 800 occupations.  This is available at http://www.bls.gov/oes/home.htm.
